Cook time: 30 minutes Total Time: 45 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
600g white cabbage (after shredding)
2 – 3 medium size onions (approximately 220g)
1 medium size potato (approximately 150g)
1 tbsp plain wheat flour
1tbsp salt
4tbsp veg oil (or 60g a lard)
430ml water
4tbsp vinegar
1teaspoon cumin
4tbsp granulated sugar (approximately 60g depends on taste)
Instructions:
First, you have to prepare the cabbage. Cut it into 4 same pieces. Take off the middle cord and the rest shred softly.
Get a bigger pot, add veg oil, softly chopped onions and fry for couple minutes until softened. Then add a tablespoon of plain flour. Mix together.
Add shredded white cabbage, pour water, cumin, salt. Cover the pot with a lid and cook for approximately 10 minutes.
Shred softly the potato. Add into the pot. mix it well. Then add sugar, vinegar and let it cook gently for another 10 – 15 minutes.
Now. It is a time to check the taste. If the cooked cabbage is to sour add some sugar. If otherwise use some vinegar.
Best to serve hot with cooked potatoes, dumplings and a wide range of meat products like chicken, pork slice or even a meatloaf depend on your location and fantasy.
Good luck with cooking and have a fun.
See you next time.
Tip: If you don’t like a white cabbage you can use a red one as well. They are sweeter and the taste is a little softer (of course depends on the variety).
